It's my 16th birthday & a friend invites me to go watch Ocean's 11. I get home & my parent's house was filled with my peers. They all surprised me for my birthday. It was a good time. They even gave me a board filled with their handwritten best wishes & yadi, yadi, yada.

Present day:

I don't hang with any of those people. Some of them I just don't want in my circle, some of them wronged me one way or the other & some are strictly social media friend's list fillers.

I have this vivid childhood memory of waking up in a house made of wood on a "banig" (handwoven mat) with the breeze blowing & sun rays shooting through the windows. We were on vacation in the province in northern Philippines visiting our relatives, I believe. I used to be excited to eat breakfast of hotdogs, eggs, garlic rice and possibly "taho" (Philippine healthy snack food & is basically made of fresh tofu, brown sugar or vanilla syrup and tapioca pearls). Just typing this made me want to have some.

I'm digging the whole menswear-inspired & over-sized duds that I've been seeing in magazines, runways & even on some blogs. The look is very early 90's. See, I feel the most confident when I wear peg legged trousers with a not-so-fitted button down shirt. Maybe it's the masculinity of it or the fact that it's not tailored for me that gives me a certain high when I strut the streets wearing menswear-inspired clothes.

Ever met somebody who talks about is what they did or what they achieved? Like they are stuck in a period where they felt like they had it all that they continue to relive it by having conversations about it. How about somebody who repeatedly talks about what they're going to do? Then months, years, even decades, down the line they're situation remains the same? How about the ones who complain way too much? Ain't that annoying?

Sometimes it is better to hush a bit, take a deep breathe, move forward and just do. I firmly believe in letting actions do all the talking. Let the others see who you really are and what you've done. Leave your mark, be remembered for something positive. When you do, there is no need to spit a word about any of it. People will see and let them talk about it....
