I have this vivid childhood memory of waking up in a house made of wood on a "banig" (handwoven mat) with the breeze blowing & sun rays shooting through the windows. We were on vacation in the province in northern Philippines visiting our relatives, I believe. I used to be excited to eat breakfast of hotdogs, eggs, garlic rice and possibly "taho" (Philippine healthy snack food & is basically made of fresh tofu, brown sugar or vanilla syrup and tapioca pearls). Just typing this made me want to have some.
